A 7 year old girl bullying 7 lb Snowball, a Maltese, and Lady Emma Jane Beazley, a 7 lb rescue Cheagle, on Broadway on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
My husband was walking our two dogs this morning when a young girl bent down and proceeded to yelp repeatedly in our dog’s faces. The dogs, who were minding their own business, looking for a place to do their business, naturally started to bark at her.
My husband asked her to stop because it was upsetting the dogs. She looked at him, put her hands up at her sides and said, “What’s that about?”
And then her father commented, “Why don’t you get a real doge instead of those rats?”
Close your eyes, and this could be one of the girls on a school bus bullying a 68 year old aide. It could be a teenager with her buddies surrounding a heavier student and taunting her.
The father not only didn’t respect a fellow adult, but he didn’t respect his daughter. He didn’t respect her enough to give her the attitude and tools she needs to succeed in a civil society. The world is not Homer Simpson’s Springfield. We need more Lisas, not female Barts,
